The Slug and Lettuce || Wagamama

So for our weekly date, we both decided to go to Brindley Place in Birmingham. The weather was really nice, luckily. So we both went for a formal/casual look seeing as that area is full of businessmen/women and you can't turn up wearing something really casual like a sweatshirt and some ragged denim now, can you?

Initially we went to Slug and Lettuce, which is located by the canalside, and we both had wanted to dine there but instead we ended up ordering a couple of drinks. This was due to the fact that there was not anything we particularly fancied on the menu, although it did have various dishes just not ones that particularly stood out to us! So whilst we sipped on our drinks, as I ordered a Strawberry Breeze mocktail and Moni ordering a Mint hot chocolate (something to warm up on).. we both decided that we'd go to Wagamama, a Japanese restaurant also located by the canalside in Brindley Place.

The atmosphere was very warm and relaxed in Slug and Lettuce, probably due to the fact there was hardly anyone there and as well as this, the staff were also quite friendly. So it is definitely a place to go, and there are many Slug and Lettuce eataries across England.. We had ended up spending quite a while there as we were waiting to eat breakfast/lunch at Wagamama and just chatting in general! As well as that, we both decided to take loads of random photos. One of which we decided to upload as our blog's avatar seeing as we didn't already have one! (just an excuse to be vain really... ha)

We've both been to Wagamama before and we’ve never been disappointed. So we decided to dine there again! We were the first ones to enter Wagamama 10 minutes after it had opened which was slightly awkward to say the least. However, despite it being empty, we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who seated us, seeing as everywhere was free she let us choose our own seats! Usually we both go for the 'Yaki Soba' dish, which is a teppan dish full of noodles, vegetables and various seafood or meats. However, I decided to opt for something new on the menu, being the Cha Han (fried rice) with various chinese mushrooms and large prawns. Alongside the dishes, Moni also decided to go for something new and ordered the chicken wings to accompany her Yaki Soba dish.

Seeing as the restaurant was practically empty, the food didn’t take long and looked very well presented. My Cha Han, the rice and seafood dish, had been accompanied generous amount of vegetables as well as a bowl of miso soup and various pickles. The portion size was rather large and incredibly satisfying! Which was enough to keep me going throughout the day..
Moni’s meal was also rather great, in regards to the portion size. The starter chicken wings were really tender and very well marinated and filling. Therefore being a great accompianment to the noodle based dish!
We took quite a lengthy period eating our meals and discussed many things; we were there for almost 90 minutes! The atmosphere is so friendly and we didn’t feel uneasy for spending so long there, unlike many other restaurants where you’re constantly asked if you’d like anything else or constant stares by waiters.

With Wagamama, just like Slug and lettuce, there are many locations around England. So be sure to check them out! As we are frequent diners there, we can vouch that if you love rice/noodle based dishes or even just something different like Oriental food, you will enjoy eating there!
